Here's what you should know: I've handled travel emergencies most people hope they never think about and it changed how I design every trip since. Both travel insurance and a local contact that is available around the clock are required for every client on every trip. You are a person before you are my client and that will never change.
I spent 12 years inside group travel operations, starting in customer service and eventually running global operations for a company with 100,000 travelers a year. I've been to 40 countries myself. Between the two, I've learned what makes a trip perfect and what can ruin one.

The Full Story Behind The Amy Plan
The Amy Plan was really born out of two major things in my life.
The first: I grew up in small-town USA, and I knew at a young age that I wanted more. I needed and craved more than the dirt road I lived on and the quiet stillness of nature could give me.
The second: the death of my 12-year-old brother, Sean, on April 16, 2008. I was 15. As you can imagine, my life changed forever, and I was forced to learn a lot of life lessons far too young. The one with the most impact? You have one life to live.
I didn't realize how much my childhood shaped what I've gone on to do and accomplish as an adult, but when I really looked, I found that it did. I don't spend much time agonizing over a decision. I also don’t believe there is ever a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ time to make decisions. Indecision is the thief of opportunity and I’ve had to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. I have been uncomfortable for longer than I haven’t but it’s never allowed to be an excuse, it’s always a catalyst for something bigger.
My First International Trip
Growing up, I was fascinated by a set of dolls my mom kept displayed in a cabinet. In the fifth grade, I finally learned who they were: Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII. I loved world history, especially the era of Queen Elizabeth I. So what started as a simple school history project turned into my mom and grandma taking me, my brother, and my sister to England and Wales.
That trip changed everything. That's where I got bit by the travel bug, and where a lifelong obsession with seeing the world took hold.
Life Outside of Travel
Travel is one of the most important parts of my life, and I'm lucky enough to share it with my husband, who also happens to be my favorite travel partner. We met in a pizza shop in Chinatown, Boston, in 2013, and now we live in Greater Boston with our two Australian Shepherds, Teka and Kora. You'll usually find us in the backyard with a cocktail, our dogs competing for attention, and just enjoying each other’s company.
Outside of work, I'm an avid romantasy reader, a concert-goer, getting new tattoos, and learning new things (any new thing, I'm not picky).
Fun fact: about a month into dating my husband, I had to decide whether to invite him on a family cruise a full year out. What's crazier than me asking? Him saying yes.
12 Years, 40 Countries
The Amy Plan didn't happen overnight. It was built over travels to 40 countries and 12 years on the corporate side of group travel, starting as a customer service agent and ending my career as a Vice President of Global Operations. I learned this industry from the ground up, and somewhere between the crisis calls and the personalized itinerary planning, I learned I had what it took to build my own travel design business.
Those years taught me how to figure out what people actually want when they travel. It's not just an itinerary. It's a feeling, built through a series of experiences that create memories and give people something they can't get in their everyday lives.
The Amy Plan isn't built on a blind passion for travel. It's built on experience, knowledge, learned skills, and most importantly, my own travels. I combine what I love with what I know to create itineraries that help my clients catch those feelings: happiness, joy, love, peace, curiosity, and more.
If you're wondering what the secret is, there isn't one. It comes down to understanding that we're all the same at our core. It's human nature to crave those feelings, and travel has a way of opening your heart, mind, soul, and eyes.
